Hey! How'd you get a picture of my dad! Ok not really, but his eyebrows are very much like that!
And I got my eyebrows from my dad, if I don't do serious maintainence on them, they'd look like this, but on a 30 year old female... My son also inherited this eyebrow style, he is doomed with...
So it had been a week, I think I should introduce Weebles, the second goose that hatched that we thought for sure was going to die. Weebles has a black dot on his beak. Scribbles is the other gosling
Erg second gosling is alive still, barely. Still no external pip. When removing bits of shell, noticed the veins still in the inner membrane as I hit one. Put back in the bator for a while. Gonna be a long night...
@Sally Sunshine Here's the first gosling!!!
Appears to be a greyback Pomeranian! I love how my phone focused on the scratches on the incubator window instead. The other is alive and moving (did a quick candle when removing the empty shells). Up to 11 ducklings now I think we might have...
So the neighbor dog came to say hi to the chickens today
He didn't get in the pen, but he scared one OVER the fence and chased her into my arms, then continued to circle the coop/run until his owner came to fetch him. What I don't understand is why they don't have the dog in their fenced...
@Sally Sunshine Ducklings are here!! This was a pic my husband sent me at work. Had 1 hatch right when I was getting ready for work, a second hatch as I ran out the door. We are now up to 6: 4 girls 2 boys, with another on the way! One was DIS. It had zipped half way then stopped but was moving...
From post #63966
So you missed it yesterday! The duckies and goosies are in lock down. Had 5 internal pips of my duck eggs yesterday when i went to do a last turn of the goose eggs ( i was going to put them in lockdown around noon, instead put them in LD at 7 am lol). Had 5 external pips...
Sally! Sally! @Sally Sunshine this is it! Lock down for my duck and goose eggs!!
I just sent that to my husband. I went to turn the goose eggs one last time because lock down was supposed to be around noon and was greeted with duckie chatter!! Holy poop!! Yes I just candled, marked, and upped...
Leave them in there until day 14 at least! I thought that was what was happening for a lot of my eggs, but it wasn't a blood ring at that stage, it is the chicks getting bigger/more blood circulating in there. My ducks are looking the same way, but the embryo is moving!
@Sally Sunshine Thanks for that update post, I didn't realize they were going to pull the OTC antibiotics this Dec!!
Totally running to TSC/Big R this week when we get paid to grab some!
PS... How long is their shelf life?? LOL
Don't have to stick to just walmart. My local grocery store with a bakery has buckets just like this. Got the insider scoop from one of the night managers to go in during the day, ask for the bakery manager, and ask if he has any buckets I can have for free/cheap.
Doing fine. We closed on our house on friday, should be registered w/the county either tomorrow or tues. So we'll be moving in starting (hopefully) tomorrow! Already have the new "coop" for the chickens ordered (8x12 shed) to be delivered next Friday. Hoping that if we can't start moving on Mon...
