    Surviving Minnesota!

Stop making me want a cat!! The rodent population is unreal around here. One thing I learned about cats recently... they’re not all mousers (but clearly yours are). I didn’t realize this until I looked into getting a few barn cats. On a side note... the drawback of making a coop too tight...

    Surviving Minnesota!

Good morning! Has anyone spotted ticks yet?! I’m hoping to get a dent in yard work before the suckers get too bad. So much thick brush and garbage to clean up. I swear the previous owner did not pay for garbage service and dumped it in the back woods. Soup cans and yogurt cups for days!

    Surviving Minnesota!

Snow, snow and more snow here! This wind is insane. I’m surprised the deer are moving in it. I thought for sure they would be hunkered down.

I figured as much! Unfortunately I was unable to seek a shelter as we were all bottle necked to get out. It was dicey for a bit to say the least!

Clearly you are more educated than I on this subject! Just after snapped straight line winds, debris flying, porta potties tipping over, trees bending and rain. All of that followed by hail. Whatever that indicates lol

    Surviving Minnesota!

Just thought I'd share a photo from yesterday morning. That moment when you're in the middle of a field with 7000 other campers trying to leave at the same time ...while in the eye of a storm. Yikes!

And that would be why I need them in my life! Lol I may just have to give them a try. Are they louder than a wild turkey?

    Surviving Minnesota!

Thanks anyhow! I'm afraid the really young (I believe they are called keet) won't last long here at all. Any other suggestions on controlling the ticks... besides hens and keeping grass/shrubs trimmed... I'm all ears!

    Surviving Minnesota!

Absolutely horrible! I recently moved into an old farmhouse on acreage which has been neglected for 20-plus years and everything is severely overgrown. A tick on me just about every time I go outside is a little much! I hope I get normal ones as well LOL thanks for the heads up

Congrats on your soon to be one month! Hopefully he chimes in. To be honest they creep me out but I'm at my wits end with the ticks. Thanks much!

    Surviving Minnesota!

Hey guys! I'm in southern Minnesota (30 mins from twin cities) and wondering if anyone has connections for guinea fowl. The ticks here are absolutely horrible! I'm in the process of building a coop for my hens but would like to get guinea fowl to hopefully control the tick population for a...
