That's great! 15 new chicks are great numbers and definitely better numbers than a lot of people on here today. Lots of sad news. Congratulations on the new babies. I can't wait to see the photos!
When a chick has spraddle leg, and you hobble it, how long do you keep the hobble on? I hobbled the little guy on Saturday, I think? It was running all over the place today, so I took the hobble off. It is walking on it's feet, but still has a bit of a waddle, rather than a walk. Should I...
Ok, I started with 60. 10 Trader Joe's eggs and 15 of my silkie eggs were infertile, and I dropped 1 Spitzhauben egg on day 18. 34 made it to lockdown. 28 hached. 12 Spitzhauben, 13 Bantam blue EE and 3 of my silkies. When you add the 7 broody silkies, 2 CCL and 5 silkie/sizzle/frilkies...
I really think it depends on the individual 'bator. I have an LG with a fan and had 80 to 90% hatch rates. When I brought in the incuview, it dropped to 10%. I call it my death bator. Just bought a Brinsea and my hatch is not done but I am at 82% so far.
Thanks!!! They all hatched today, and at the last check they were all sleeping. So, I'm leaving them until the morning when I can have some help to move them.
Its the 40 and it's just wide enough and heavy enough that I can tilt the cover, I have to pull it off and I an't hold it with one...
These are in a Brinsea, so to me, it's not as easy to open as the styros were. Those I could do 1 handed, this one takes 2 people or you need to take the whole cover off, set it down, take out chicks and put it back on.
Ok, so I have had such horrible hatches lately that this first one in my new incubator is going too good. I now have 16 babies, 12 warm, dry and fluffy, with at least 8 other pips. Can I open it to take out the dry chicks and some shells to give the others room to move? Or, with that many...
I have 3 pips! Now to go to bed and wake up tomorrow with 3 chicks? They were supposed to hatch on Saturday, what's the deal? My hatches are ALWAYS late. New 'bator is doing a good job!
Happy Hatching everyone!
Hi all! I'm thousands of posts behind! No way I can catch up. I'm sure there are lots of hatching stories and lots of lock down ones. GO CHICKIES GO!!!!!!
For me - Lock down today! I started this HAL with 60, took out 15 of my 19 silkies. My rooster was not doing his job in February...
I locked down 4 of my silkie eggs 5 days early when I included them with another group of eggs that were due to lock down. All 4 hatched. So, I think 2 days early won't hurt them. Lock them down with the 80.
Hi, I posted this on another thread, but thought I should post it here...Late on 3/5 I set 15 Blue Bantam EE's (Thanks TJ), 16 Spitzhauben eggs (Thanks Crazytalk), 19 of my own Silkie eggs and 6 Trader Joe eggs that I doubt are fertile, but I'm trying anyway. These are all in the new Brinsea...
