Have been busy but wanted to pop in and give a quick update. 34 of my 37 backyard mixes went into lockdown wed night. Woke up this morning and had the first external pip. Hoping to have more this afternoon. Don't have time to try and read back missed post but hope everyone's hatch is going well.

The 7th Annual BYC Easter Hatch-A-Long!

Yeah I have been doing research and I take extensive notes during my hatches. I think I have a formula now that should work. while it isn't recommended by everything I've read the best approach I had was last hatch on the front of the year I used the flashlight that I use for candling to...

The 7th Annual BYC Easter Hatch-A-Long!

Well lessons learned. Went into lockdown with 13 of 13 for my test hatch. Everything seemed to be going good. First chick had pipped sat morning and was hatched by sat night. Don't remember the numbers but sat night into sun through out the day was busy with zips and hatches. Unfortunately...

The 7th Annual BYC Easter Hatch-A-Long!

Test hatch seems to be going good. Went to bed with three pips. Woke up with 4 chicks and 4 pips. Have had another zip since. Status as of now is 5 hatched and 3 pips out of 13. Plan to post some pictures here in a bit. Do have a question though. Will it be possible to add these in my brooder...

The 7th Annual BYC Easter Hatch-A-Long!

Well today was a good day. Candled and put my test hatch in lock down. I have 13 of 13 going into lock down. Hoping it goes good and I have new chicks by the end of the weekend. They are from my partridge rock hens with a roo that I'm not sure what he is. Also had the lone survivor of a fox...

I have a very precise method for cleaning my Styro LG. 1/2 gallon of bleach mixed with a tub of water. Repeat that twice. Rinse afterwards with a full tub of water 3 times. Allow to sun dry for a couple of days and should be good to go. Maybe not the best but it seems to work for me. I also...

The 7th Annual BYC Easter Hatch-A-Long!

I was originally planning on a top and bottom set up like you mentioned but decided I wasn't sure due to the complication of staggered hatches and humidity. This one doesn't have a divider for each side but either door slides open. That's another part of the reason I haven't started is I'm still...

The 7th Annual BYC Easter Hatch-A-Long!

Picked this up back a couple of months ago but haven't had the time or money to start building it yet. Was looking at regular sized fridges and then saw this posted for free. Bakery I got it from was worried I would spend too much trying to fix it because it had been "sitting there broke for at...

The 7th Annual BYC Easter Hatch-A-Long!

Finally caught up again. Laptop is on the fritz so it had been a couple days since I made any progress reading post. Test hatch goes into lock down we time frame. And I think I need to put a divider in my brooder so the 3-4 week Olds don't trample the new ones. Happy Valentines day to all.

It was a kit from I think incubator warehouse. It appears to be pretty much the same one as comes on the LG9300. came with the fan, screws to attach it, random assortment of washers and spacers, and the electrical plug. pretty easy install.

My LG has done decent for me so far. I have added a fan to it and also added a digital thermostat. Has a temp variance of maybe 2-3 degrees. have it set to 99.5 and seems to work perefectly. It was trial and error for a bit but on my own eggs I can usually get 80-90 percent hatch rates now.

Good thing the wife isn't on here often. She might get ideas of locking me in the coop instead of the doghouse lol.

Well it took almost every spare moment I could find over the course of the past 4-5 days but I managed to make it through all the post. 1-2440. If I get more than 100 behind its not gonna happen again. Not sure why but I missed last years Easter HAL. First one was the 5th annual and I had a...
