Hey everybody in Kentucky! I'm selling one of my pens that I used to house my non-breeding Silkie roosters. I sold all of my roosters, so I will not be using this pen any longer. If someone out there needs a nice sturdy pen, just let me know. It's about 12 feet long and 4 feet wide and 4 feet...

. We're in South Central KY! I have some Black Australorps, too. I love them! They tend to go broody, so I like to use them to raise my Guineas. I raise Silkies as well, and I also have my layers: EE's, BR's, RIR's, BO's, and Light Sussex and one Black Copper Marans rooster to keep...

I hope you're successful in legalizing backyard poultry. It is, after all, the American way!

I started off with bantams and LF egg layers. I sold most of my bantams. I still LOVE the bantams, though. They're so cute and they fit nicely in your hand. Right now I only have two bantam d'Uccle hens. I kept them because they're two of my best broody moms. I used to breed the little Seramas...

Trying not to slip and fall on my rump! My sheep seem to have no problem on the ice. I guess four legs are really better than two.

All I gotta say is you will love the gentleness and awesome egg laying of the Australorps! You will enjoy the nice colored eggs from the EE's or Ameraucanas. You will love the beauty of the BCM roosters and the dark eggs of the hens. Not sure which Sussex you are thinking of (Light, Speckled, or...

I know the feeling. I have a lot of mud in the high traffic areas. I put some straw down late last night after locking up the coops. This morning after letting the chickens out to free range, they immediately began scratching through all the nice straw I had laid down. So it's back to...

Are there any poultry/sm-animal AUCTIONS going on in South Central KY?? I was out of town last Saturday for the auction in Horse Cave and apparently, they announced they will no longer be having the poultry auctions on Saturday. I have about 15 (three-month old) White Crested Polish Chicks that...

Funny you should mention Emus. I was thinking of getting some Emus to run in the pasture with my sheep. Hey, is there anyone in KY who breeds Emus???

Yeah, I thought about getting Sussex since they are large, but I have the one Marans rooster and thought I'd just use him over my egg layers. He ended up being the only survivor of a dozen shipped BCM hatching eggs I bought last year. Next year I'd like to get some Light Sussex; but right now...

What do you use for dual meat/eggers? I have one Black Copper Marans rooster that I'm thinking of breeding with my Black Australorps and Barred Rocks to get a large dual meat/egger. "Large" meaning larger than my Australorps and Rocks. All my other roosters are bantam sized.
