Hi, I'm in Nelson county and have a few nice started bearded Silkies for sale: Two blacks may be a pair. They are 4 months old. Four or 5 that are 3 months old. Some are black. One black has a partridge head and neck. One buff that I may keep unless someone really wants it. Right now, I...

Hi and welcome! I live in Bloomfield, just down the road from you. I would offer the suggestion of Orpingtons. They are very gentle and docile, not to mention large. I started off with them for that reason, but have stayed with them. I purchased six chicks from a friend and told myself that...

Hi to you from Bloomfield. I have Orpington chickens, and several types of waterfowl. I live out in the country and have lost two birds this year to predators. I am afraid to let them out. I have plenty of space so it a shame. I am allowing my flock to range in a corral, but its not the...

Hmmm. I have not had any problems with the fine shavings. These also came from TSC but seems to not have much dust in them. This is what I have used since May. My chicks are also on them and the only dust is from the chicks themselves. If I ever get a dusty bag. I'll be sure to put it in...

Frankfort is getting a new TSC and there is one in Lawrenceburg and:) Shelbyville as well. They carry the Xtra fine stuff. Its great! Fluffs up and easy to clean. Straw can harbor mites in the stems etc. Yes I agree to hard to clean too.

We come to Lexington once in awhile. What info do you have on a Buff Orphington hen? Could you get a picture possibly? Do you know where the bird came from? I am looking for big correct birds like mine. Thanks!

Quote: So far I have six oprs. I predicted right because I was sure one egg was not good. They look great. The mixed group so far has one chick that looks buff and is pretty big. The maran egg?(copper) has pipped last night still watching it. One other egg ( light tan/pink) shows no...

Quote: Hope your chick will be ok. What kind is it? The orps eggs I got from you went into lockdown today. Looks like all but one was dark with an air pocket. Keeping my fingers crossed. Of the frizzle it looked like two were blank. My eyes may be fooling me. We shall see. So they are...

Quote: Crazy trying to keep up with the terminology isn't it. When you dub a chicken you remove the waddles and the comb. Had Ms. Beth or myself been on our A Game we would have taken a couple pictures. AND the reason for that is.......?

Quote: TSC should have had Corrid in their locked up case... Unless they were just out of stock. Ours keeps it locked up. OK thanks everyone. I went to TSC and they did have it. The lady on the phone said they do not sell it. but there it was sitting on the shelve in plain sight. I just...

[ It was way late when I got there, and I think a lot of folks had pulled out already. I had to talk myself into going, since I could NOT buy anything. I saw the LF Buff Orps. Dang, those things are huge!! I think that every year when I see the standards - big, and scary. I'm happy with my...

I am sooo glad that my Orps are like Dogs. When I went out to the barn tonight one had gotten loose. She came up to greet me. I said lets go and headed toward the chicken yard. She fell in step right behind me, all the way through the gate. They do this every time Gitta Love EM! Never knew...

I liked some of the bantams that I saw, but just love my orps. I call them Chicken Dogs. They follow me around and come running as soon as they see me. A big plus is they don't fly and can't get out of my chicken yard. They are very easy to handle. I guess if I keep my flock small the feed...

I was also sorry not to see many if any large birds. I was looking for Orpingtons. The ones in the show were awesome. As far as OEGB I got tired of seeing so many. I saw nothing to buy except some nest boxes, but missed out on those. What other swaps do we have in the central KY area? I...
