Well my goodness! Had not heard you broke your leg! So glad to hear you are improving. Love your new machine and totally understand needing space from the quilting challenge. Working with nice fabrics always seems to soothe my moods.

I learned on a Singer and then moved up to a Bernina. I’ve still got her. I just brought the sewing machine to our rent house where we are living during our farm house remodel. I’ve quilted double sized quilts on this one.

Perhaps the break away from the 3D will bring a new outlook. A 3D is a study in illusion...the appearance of depth that draws the mind and eye to complete the image. You have been so close to the task of completion that every "fudge" jumps out at you. They were necessary to keep the lines...

Cyn, it is a gorgeous quilt! Well worth all the effort and frustration putting it together has caused. And yes, a dark border would capture the movement of the eye across the quilt.

Had you decided how you are going to quilt the log cabin? You mentioned stitching in the ditch was not your favorite. The dye lost lines on the red fabric might inspire a rambling pattern. The red/white/blue works nicely with colors in the quilt.

Is the backing material for your log cabin or another project? That brick red you had selected was really nice...so was the green in the same pattern.

I have done it so many times over the years that I now purposefully select three close shade of color to use in a quilt so it looks like I planned for it to happen. :gig Of course I love the scrappy look of the older quilts...using everything we have on hand. I think that's why I was...

Since you and I both hate our seam rippers, I would be very happy with this arrangement!! You can :smack me later... If your perfectionist persona chooses to interfere, then remove the tiny red square from one of the corners in the middle border and swap it with the red one that is a...

. Center section is set. And I really like the outside section! Next section framing the center: Will the far upper right and the far lower left framing the center section fit together in the middle of the row above the center block so you have a dark 1/2 square on each side of the center...

What about making the corners the lighter gray blocks and the darker ones the half squares on the side. You have 8 dark blocks and 12 light blocks.

I agree...I've done it too. The overall effect is wonderful and the eye doesn't focus on tiny imperfections. They are proof the quilt is a handmade treasure.

All it takes is one or two threads over or under the 1/4 seam to be off by a 1/16 of an inch on a block with multiple strips or pieces. Even when I set a tape band for a guide for the seams, invariably I'm off. On Log Cabin blocks, I've learned to pin the seam lines and make minor adjustments...

Just checking up on Cyn's latest projects Love the geometric gray and red. I also hate having to rip and reset when center blocks must be really sharp alignments. Sorry to hear about the red fabric for the backing, but glad you got a refund. Have made two big orders from Thousandsofbolts and...
