I love all the gold fabric in that quilt! It is very pretty. lately I have been anti-white in quilts. don't know why but I don't like the look of too much white fabric in quilts and that is a change for me. I have a stack of white fabrics in various tones and prints that I bought to make a...

Your quilting is gorgeous! Maybe someday I can do something like that. We are looking at buying a quilting machine now, so we can pay it off before we both retire. Those suckers are expensive! DH just bought a new pick-up truck for hauling our camper. He is calling it his retirement...

I like to hoop for hand quilting, it makes it easier for me to keep the layers together so I don't get puckering or miss the bottom layer with the needle. And it helps me to be able to stop, set it down and do a chore, then pick it up and start again.

Looking at the pages for each, I would go with the JUKI. The Sparrow is nice with the knee lift, but I only use my knee lift when I am doing bigger quilts - so maybe not as important for the kinds of sewing you are going to do now. The JUKI I have is a powerful machine and will sew through...

It has never happened on any other fabrics, just the flannel quilt that I made for my nephew. It was a cheap fabric so I would probably have had problems anyway.

I like the basting spray also, but when i used it on a twin sized flannel quilt, i had to keep wiping off the needle because it would get sticky . just vingar on a paper towel seemed to take care of it.

Those are very pretty quilts! DH has been working on the Carft Shed that weekend. So much work yet to do, but I really need to measure it up, decide what I want in there, and decide on storage options. We bought 6 4-drawer file cabinets from my work for $5. They moved offices and the had to...

I would try a #4 - move the first column to the other end so you have 4 purple stars. NO... it looks too unfinished. Stay with layout #2

I was taught to set my Handi Quilter up with just enough tension "so it looks like a cat slept on it". Quilters and embroiders, we all know exactly what that means.

I just found a quilt shop that rents out their quilting machine and at a rate that isn't all that bad - $30 per hour. The only problem is that their hours are while I am at work, ack! I am sure they book up fast on Saturday, and they are only open from 9 to noon on Saturday. Now that I know...

With a thin batting you need to do a close quilting and that will help it hold together. I like the really thin batting for summer quilts. And if you want to do a really close quilting, then the thin stuff is the way to go. When I was just starting out, I made a quilt with cheap thin stuff...

That quilt is just beautiful! By the way, how high is your working surface with the new table? Is it standard table height or did you adjust the legs to a better height to work at?

That small quilt is awesome. I love how you sewed around the fish and then did waves in the water. It sure is fun to freehand, isn't it? I miss having my sewing room set up, still waiting on the craft shed. As soon as I am finished with the garden for the year, and the chicken tractor that I...

Glad to hear the old dog is OK. Hope the swelling goes down quickly. This spring we had our 3 year-old german shepherd go mostly blind. One day when I was giving him a treat when I noticed that his eyes looked weird. His pupils were large and fixed, his eyes were kinda bulging out like he...
