We butchered all of our BCM males... *ahem*
I just paid for a dozen Silver Gray Dorking eggs! Shipping mid-March! Woot! My quest to have living Dorking males continues!
Very cool! I think it took me TWO HOURS to drive down there that time though! And I'd probably come home with a bunch of rabbits, which I don't think the Handsome Husband would appreciate. :) And hatching eggs. You KNOW I'd bring home a bunch of eggs.
Hey ya'll! :)
I know, I know - I have been totally MIA and am likely to go that way again, but it's almost SPRING. And you know what that means... LOL
I'm expecting 8 chicks from Meyer Hatchery in Feb. 5 silver gray dorkings (because after buying all those last year, I never got a male...
Just popping in to say hi! I've been SO busy that BYC hasn't made it onto my list of things I can accomplish in a day ;-)
I came over to post in the meat forum. Anyone have their chickens that have been frozen in shrink bags end up tasting like plastic?
It also just occurred to me that we only had 3 males and the rest were females. We had about 3 that had a fair amount of meat on them. I think I'll order all males next time, too.
We did the deed today. 12 red rangers butchered.
I am SO displeased with their size!

So -
We found the 55 gallon drum on CL for $15.(I bought 2. Otherwise they...
Is anyone in the market for Salmon Faverolles? I have 2 males and 2 females (9 weeks old) that I'd like to sell. I have ended up with way too many chickens LOL
I can't read 500 messages to get caught up!
How the heck are ya'll??
@abmaddox1981 - how are your dorkings faring? I read 500 messages ago that you are having to move and I will track back and see if I can find out your current status. Hoping you can find some land!
I've been busy busy...
Just checking in. I'm still alive up here, but have been very busy with foster kids :)
My last dorking chick from @abmaddox1981 died on Saturday. Boo! We moved the "big kids" - fully feathered 6 week olds - up the hill to their coop/run and I am down to 10 chicks in the basement brooder.
