Hey guys, does anyone have quick info on whether you can use permethrin on the ground around new chicks? For fire ants.. I have a sneaking suspicion that's why I found a dead chick just now
I didn't spend a dime, though.. Didn't see anything I couldn't live without, plus I'm CHEAP. One lady had some pretty sick looking juvies IMO so beware.
We went to the swap this morning. Lots of silkies, several areas had English Orps.. some chocolate, black, mottled, and a gold laced pair I saw. Lots of bantams, the big pens of guineas and ISA reds, some rabbits, several AM that were dropping pretty blue eggs in their pens.. a few bantam...
GAM- my eggs should be here tomorrow. Not sure when the heck I'll get them to you seeing as I work 12* tomorrow and Thursday (three in a row, shoot me now).. but I'll get them there at some point.
Very pretty! Gamefowl intrigue me, I'll admit. Do people keep them only for show? Aside from others, obviously... but don't they lay tiny eggs? And there's not much meat. I guess no different from keeping bantams though.
Cracked one egg each from my frizzle and smooth Cochin pen this morning.. I just think it's neat and informative so I took pics. Looks like the frizzle egg was fertile, smooth was not (plus I busted the yolk when I cracked it )
Edit: cracked another smooth and it looks good. I'll have to run...
I've personally never ordered chicks but know plenty here have. But for a local alternative check with Morning Glory Farm here in Rockmart (may be a Cedartown address).. She should be hatching soon and usually has a nice variety.
