Ya'll are sure chatty! I wait a couple days, and have to read 12 pages to catch up!
Went to check on my silkie who has been setting at least 3 weeks, and no luck there.
Candled the eggs, one was black, no air sac. Tossed it, and it made a loud POP
Glad I didn't try to see what was in...
I have separate shoes for chicken chores. When I had that virus last year, I started with 2 pair of slip on shoes and continued that until everything in that pen was gone.
One pair for my side pens, which never showed any sign of illness, then I'd switch to feed and water the big pen.
Big...
If I was closer I'd come help. I'm really interested in the chocolate babies, but would have to wait til April to get up there.
Work & Dani stuff...
But first week of April is Spring Break.
Flowerbh,
Do you have pics of your Chocolate Orp parents? I'm going to look at some adults today, but I have concerns about the tail colors on the male.
Hi all! Long time no chat!
Basically I needed a break, since I brought some chicks home, quarantined them 30 days, put them in my grow...
Love them! I had to do some rearranging here today to clear a pen for my newest acquisitions. We got one pen empty since I'm not hatching more blue/black Ameraucanas this summer. That pen was moved to the shade and the new birds are now settling in. Now I'm looking for a wheaten Ameraucana...
Partridge. Just like my one a week older from the dropped eggs.
I need to get the partridge rooster out of there I think. Give someone else a shot.
I play the baby catch game nightly. Well, mine are in a pen, just have to tuck in about 12 who go up the ramp fine all day but can't...
Congrats! I sold a few chicks last week then hatched more today.
I really don't have any to sell except some cockerels once they grow up some.
Did hatch another showgirl.
I had bought a silkie & a showgirl from Cliff. Looks like daddy is my partridge silkie, not so affectionately called Bad *****.
I need to double check neck color to be sure it's black. That hit me today. I saw black feet, 5 toes & a poof.
At the doctors with hubby now as they...
8 hatched from my dropped eggs.
Checked them today and 3 were shrunk wrapped but trying. Membranes were solid and actually crunchy.
I helped the 3, and there are 6 that weren't too damaged that I'm giving til tomorrow.
But one of the 3 is a SHOWGIRL!!!
And it is the strongest of the 3...
Ok. So 7 have hatched from the smashed eggs.
But the divider in my hatching tray isn't helping keep them separate. Evidently these chicks are determined to thrive!
Son of a ....
Was moving eggs from my turner to put them in the hatching tray.
41 eggs total
16 RIR
2 SBEL
18 Ameraucana
5 silkies
Dropped the turner tray onto bricks!!!
35 of the eggs are cracked, some badly.
One loudly chirping baby with blood evident.
5 eggs were not fertile, I put...
If you breed black to lavender you get black split to lavender.
So I wouldn't expect to see lavender in place of the black. But if you then breed those back to lavenders, half of those should be lavender.
It finally happened!!!
I got a brown egg in my Lavender pen.
Pen has my lavender Ameraucanas and my 11 month old lavender Orps who were freeloading slackers.
No idea what which of the 4 it was, but I'm just excited to get an egg from them. And it is regular size too!
Combs are still...
I've let them know that now I know why they were homeless and that they were burning bridges.
I'm thinking her probation officer might need to be advised as well.
Suing them for money won't help since they have other judgements they "can't" pay. I just want them out!
We had to start...
I can't shut off utilities or change anything over there or they can sue me.
Going the legal route, I will give them formal notice to vacate tomorrow, then go to magistrate court on Thursday (after 3 days)
Then they will be served by a process server and have 7 days to respond.
Guess no good...
