Gamer adjacent. Working on spiffing up my office space and plan to put some floating shelves up around my battlestation for geeky displays. Printed these stands for old video cards. I had to slice them into 2 parts to fit my printer bed so I'm not super thrilled with the joints, I need to do...
It's all cyclical. I remember when 8 bit graphics (minecraft is 8 bit) were the cutting edge of technology. Now they're "retro cool"
Admittedly, OG Zork is a bit before my time with computers and gaming, but I played the heck out of all the PC ports as well as all of the roguelikes over time.
No my friend, That is Zork. First published by infocom in the long ago of 1977. it was originally designed to run on the DEC PDP-10 mainframe. (all of the below)
DF may be the most complex roguelike ever made. It's fun but it can be maddening! :) it's not so much a command line game, it's got ascii graphics. Zork would be what I think of when I think of command line games.
It is dark. You are likely to be eaten by a Grue.
I figured out the key mappings to get around the crap camera navigation and it's mostly WASDQE + mouse. I can live with that, I really don't like controllers.
An astro rig is in my future. I've been obsessed with space since I can remember.
That spiral in those images is a mod for the game, but the vanilla sky texture is made from actual milky way shots.
Downloaded Starfield. I was going to hold off because I know Bethesda and I'm sure it's buggy still since it's been a week. However, I had a steam credit, so, why not.
