Hi @chloeonz and @Orit!!! In retrospect now, I'm glad too, that I started this thread! I always hesitate, but sometimes frustration - when hit my wits end made me write - so I'm glad it's been helpful!!! A lot of BYC friends have amazing insights and ideas, and totally agree that this site...

It sure does seem to make a difference! I'd just been searching this, & reading about the -subgroups!!! Someone mentioned that until their new pullets started laying, they remained a separate subgroup - and then finally integrated as they were more mature, laying hens... so I've got hope...

Awwwwww!!!!! That is so sad! Poor Susan, but I"m glad you're getting new eggs for her... How does that happen, how can they just die if she is on the nest?!?!? That's so sad! The photo of your big black hen (Australorp?) and her babies - is just adorable! The hiding little chick, peeping...

Final update! Attila the Hen has turned over a new feather!!! The Pinless Peepers came off of her after 6 days (I just couldn't stand it anymore) and her chasing and attacking the peeps - has stopped! She did peck at one of the peeps when they came too close while she was eating... but that -...

I think she was definitely broody... but she's been inside at night, and I've spent every spare moment chasing her off the nesting boxes, but she was growling, cranky, puffing up and spreading her wings out low - like a big turkey... I was at my wits end! (Here she is: ) General consensus...

@Mrs. K - I TOTALLY 100% agree... Peace of the flock and I need the peace there for myself too... it's not pleasant having disruption, fighting and fear so present. It is upsetting for everyone involved... and the coop/run is my happy place - where I usually enjoy spending a lot of time...

Yes! She marches right up there... just less confidently than she had been. But she gets up there, yes. :)

@Cryss - Ok I hope I've got the "broody breaker" cage right? I've never had to deal with this broody thing... so I'm new... and I hope I've been doing it right? I have a 4'x2' cage that's about 3' high... and there's no nest material... only food & water. It's inside my garage. I have been...

Ohh! I hope it works! Idk what I'm gonna do about this broodiness... ugh! I'll just keep taking her off the nest... it's just tedious for sure... and the cranky stuff is ... for the birds... lol I'm down to 1 laying hen now... which is crumby, but what do ya do? I'm just hoping for the...

Update: Pinless Peepers on, day #3. Alls' going pretty well. Went out last night to check on everyone, opened the coop door and was thrilled to see everyone on the roosts... oh, but wait... head count... 1 short - and Attila was missing. I quickly glance to the nesting boxes and there she...

Thanks @Mixed flock enthusiast, a lot of my views on BYC seem scrambled too, and it takes me time to find the right sequence... it's often weird. But now, day 2 - Attila seems to be seriously re-evaluating her position - which I'm thankful for, and she's TOTALLY not chasing or terrorizing...

It's been a few days... and I've been keeping an eye on things. Sadly, Attila the Hen has regressed. This morning she hit an all time low, inside the coop a little after 5 AM... the Littles - fled the coop - terrified when I opened the door, and there were feathers everywhere and I heard the...

Oh BOY! LOL! Who needs Game of Thrones?!?!?! This is better than any tv show - for sure! I love it. Don't we just love our flocks and their relationships! I hope all goes peacefully for you there! Seems like it's working here... though 2 or 3 of the peeps still prefer to sleep on the...

Update! DAY 2: Attila the Hen... has finally calmed the cluck down. I did not have to resort to the pinless peepers. We were outside with the flock - all day yesterday & today watching their interactions. Last night we watched them go into the coop at dusk... The little peeps - all...

@Wee Farmer Sarah - I'm a VERY big fan of cameras & don't regret for a second, putting them in the coop. I have 1 battery "Arlo" facing the roosting bars, and another Arlo camera facing the nesting boxes. All I had to do was put a screw in the wall, and hang the magnet holders, and make sure...
