I've been watching this chick (calling Winifred that still because I can't figure it out) for 25 weeks now. Was the most aggressive of the 6 from the first day which was hilarious after week 2 watching this little black chick boss the Brahmas and Favorelles. But then Wini decided to be a lone...
Thanks everyone. I hadn't given an update because the Saturday (14th) after this conversation a hawk/owl got my little Nugget so we won't ever know. Somehow Nugs didn't get into the run before I left for a social. My son found the little thing under our holly about 8pm Still breaks my heart...
Thanks I think you are correct. Nugget hasn’t done anything but peep and cheep but today kept stopping and doing a funny pseudo crow. Got “err err peep” and was very proud strutting around. Wini kept running up and peeping like what are you doing?
I was afraid of that. Try to keep my girls on the don’t ask, don’t tell side of the neighborhood. Maybe Winifred will not cross over. In the other hand maybe we will have a baby or 2 in the spring.
This morning’s photos of Winifred. Added Some of Nugget (the buff) as well. Nugget stays with the other girls, Winifred (the one in question) just does its own thing.
Not really, runs like crazy all the time or gifs under the Brahmas. Here’s today’s best shot. I’ll grab Winifred in the morning and snap better ones. Edited for spelling
i have one in red. I think it’s smaller, it probably would fit 12 chicks but not for long. The Brahmas didn’t, but the Favorelles and Silkies stayed under until about 6 1/2 weeks periodically.
