I'm really interested in eating them since I read about the health benefits of black meat and how its really popular in Asian cuisine 😋
That being said, I don't think I would eat the hens, just the roosters.
My 2 silkies are about 5.5 weeks old now! One is bigger than the other but neither have any comb development, still looking pretty flat. My hopes for 2 girls have increased 😅💗
I already have 4 roosters here, I would be pushing it to keep more than that ❤
These silkies are just for my own fun, the rest of my flock is for eggs and meat.
My little floofs are just over 4 weeks old now! I moved their (non silkie) hatchmates outside but kept these babies inside, with me, to be my friends, for a little while longer, lol! You can hear me saying "please be girls" every day 😅😍
Any thoughts on if these two chickies are pure silkie? The eggs came from flock with a breeding group of black silkies, but other roosters were present as well. (Their owner has never seen the other roosters with the silkie hens but anything is possible) Hard to tell in the picture but they do...
She is my dependable broody! I can give her eggs or chicks anytime and shes happy to have them! She will brood for me 3 times a year! She is 3 years old, this being her 4th winter.
Hello!!! I have just added this beautiful little roo to our flock. Hes half silkie and had polish, favouring the silkie side. I hope to breed him with my half silkie half old english game hen. I know this is a thread for pure silkies, but I'm excited anyways! I dont think pure silkies are in...
