Found this lil tiny egg in the nest this morning :gig
I have a mixed flock of staggered she's so not sure who's! See what happens when I'm too busy to stalk nestboxes!
Chop up Kale really fine and feed a 1/2 cup a day. Hard shells in no time if its a deficiency. I feed fermented feed and will sprinkle some on their breakfast serving.
Now my blue wheatan as given her 1st egg up and splash wheatan started laying just a few weeks ago! I gave away a dozen blue eggs and I thought the guy was gonna have a heartattack he was so excited lol more so than me. The kids LOVE finding a blue one in the coop...its like a surprise...
Omg, omg, Omg! My Splash wheatan laid her 1st egg today! Merry Christmas! Been waiting FOREVER! (June baby)
Fed on FF since 4th day from hatch! Lil pullet egg!
I'm so proud you'd think I laid it myself!
Lovin the pics!
My splash wheatan pullet has been pacing the nest all morning! Omg what a tease...I wanna peek! But she's my baby and will totally get distracted if I go over lol Ug.

I have a new (to me)...
EEs can lay an array of colors depending on the history of the parents. Hatcheries like to breed for colors like green and blue when they can, it sells chicks.
They'll lay Shades of Greens, blues, pinks, browns and tinted whites. Until they are laying it is a surprise. This thread has awesome...
In brown layers the brown coating is applied last, well last before "bloom" is. So if the hen has laid say, 18 hours ago not 25 hours ago, one may see a lighter shade egg (the brown "paint" lol didn't fully refill so to speak but its rare). More common is during the process it is rushed along or...
I found a pink egg in a sheds window box...from a hen loooong since sold, ...it was in tact so of course I *had* to crack it open - NEVER will again Bahahhaa
