Nice eggs everyone. And to me.... even if you adopted an older bird... it is still a 'first egg' to you. Congrats on all your chickens. And ducks...;) I was lucky when my turkey started laying eggs. Her eggs were a creamy color with brown specks and large. At that time my two Americans/EE had...
Nice! Congrats! When my Cuckoo Maran started laying she had some light eggs just like this. She layed for about a month. Then took a short break... When she started again they were way darker. I didn't know that could happen.
First egg from my Cuckoo Maran, Tabatha. She is 21 weeks old
Her first egg is the small one on the left. It is not as dark as I was hoping but it is darker then the gold star egg on the right.
Manningjw... Beautiful! I also love the white eggs. I had some Blue andalusians and a neighbors dog got them all. I have gotten new birds and was debating whether I have enough or if want more birds. But what you are doing is exactly what I wanted. I have EE/americanas and some other girls...
Thanks Mellabella I am so egg-cited to get a brown egg and you are egg-cited to get a blue. I am so happy that you got 2 birds instead of only the Roo,,, Congrats! That is a beautiful clear blue...

Flockleader nice job for your girl. Huge.. She looks really pretty as well.. Congrats..
Shamrockmommy wow that is a dark egg... I have a goldstar and I am so wondering what shade she will lay... I still have maybe a month more to find out. Congrats to you and Mercedes.
Theotherfoot... Love your chicken names. Do you have others? Great egg... You have a very pretty girls. I want to get at least one Buff Orphington this year.

Those quail eggs are so pretty. They remind me of picture Jasper...
As for the squat thing... I have 2 girls laying (my others are too young). One of my girls likes a few nice deep rubs and then she is done and runs of fluffing her feathers. My other girl, you can keep rubbing and rubbing and...
Thanks Shegeekster.... I am thrilled she has pulled throw as well. She is actually using her left wing more now. I was not sure if she would ever be able to use it. She made it up to the nesting box yesterday. I was so proud of her. I have not yet eaten any of her eggs yet but I did get some...
I know... she is not a chicken. This is my Royal Palm Turkey hen. She got attacked by a neighbors dog about 6 weeks ago. I thought she might not make it but she pulled throw and now laying eggs. She can't fly right now. One of her wings is still not usable. So I did not notice the first egg. She...
