They do lay dark eggs.. The dark speckled one is from my Welsummer. Sometimes her eggs are darker and sometimes lighter. I am thinking this is due to the weather lately.

Congrats!!!! Looks a lot like the shape and color that my Wyandotte lays. My sussex lays a lighter brown egg and it is rounder, if that help.

I have been eagerly waiting to join this thread and I can finally say I got my first egg. Bridget is a 22.6 week old Delaware and this is what was in her nest box: The large white egg is store bought and weighed 2 3/8.
