You'll occasionally see strange shaped eggs, you just never saw them in those 'perfect' dozens from the supermarket! I've never had a pear shaped one, but I've had them very pointy on both ends, or almost totally round.

I'm betting RIR there, the GLWs I have lay a lighter egg than that.
