OK ... BIG EGG is from one of my barred rocks 7 months old and the tiny egg is from one of my cochrin bantams .. 8 months old .. Late layers LOL .... Of course we all feel they can not lay soon enough , but I was told Bantams are really late layers , I guess...

Thats why you have to offer GRIT to your hens ... Just put out a bowl next to their food and they eat whenever . Will improve the texture of the egg shells . Grit will toughen the shells and I have never found any broken neither .

Oh Oh .... I have 8 nesting boxes and 1/2 filled with pine shavings and shavings thru out the coop , BUT this morning , I found 1 small egg in the middle of the coop floor ....
This worries me . I don't want any of them laying on the floor . Eggs will get broken...
