I got another pullet that decided to start paying rent, or an oops. I am going with new pullet laying!
The middle egg is just 1.35 ounces, the other 2 are 2 and 1.9. ounces.
It is an olive egg, the left side egg is blue, but for some reason my IPhone has trouble with blue.
I love that bird!
I have it's twin, I call her "ICU baby" She was sick for a while from being picked on, she is bottom of pecking order, but a sweetheart.
Mine just started a couple months ago and I get some humongous eggs also. I was just putting some in a carton for a customer and I noticed a large one, I candled it, it is not a double yolk from what I can tell. I weighed it and it was 2.55 ounces. I have many over 2.45 ounces.
Some of my chickens were very loud to start with, others have been nearly silent. I think it depends on the chicken. It is like removing eggs from under the birds, some do not mind, some growl and protest and some peck at me.
I like the egg song, but I find the purring cuter, I find the "growl" amusing and it brightens my day. I have a couple birds that "growl" when I lock them up at night. I pet them just to show them I still love them, even if they are trying to be tough horses rear ends.....
Does "she" have a long tail, larger comb and crow at sunrise?
I really have no idea if all mine are laying yet or not, I am guessing not as the most eggs I have gotten is 24 for 33 hens in one day.
I think some of them think I keep them just because they are cute and not for their eggs.
I have no idea, I am not even sure which breeds I have.
I just wanted chickens all these colored eggs are a huge bonus to me. When it gets warmer I plan to take a six pack of beer sit in the coop and see who lays which eggs.
Way off topic, but my daughter in law a big photographer fan, with lots of fancy cameras told me, when I said I was going to get a different phone so I had a better camera, it is not the megapixels or memory that makes the pictures "off",
It has something to do with the length of the lens and...
I would not call it a paint booth mishap because I get that color egg about 5-6 times a week. Only one a day though.
I think the hatchery screwed up or the feed store I bought them through did and I got a bird I should not have gotten.
I ordered a package of dual purpose brown egg layers....
I used an IPhone and the color is not good, but this is a pink egg and the porcelain egg. should be more pink and whiter.
again the color is off, I am going to find an old camera and take pictures one of these days to get better color.
All the eggs pictures I have...
OH NO!!
My chickens need their privacy during those moments they are doing female things!!!!!
Besides some day I plan to get a case of beer, a folding easy chair and sit there all day long and watch them, I do not want to lose the need to do that.
You sound like me, When I decided to get chickens I bought a mixed package of brown egg layers, straight run, that ended up being 70% roosters, which did not matter because I planned to eat most of them. I never processed any of my hens, because I figured freezer camp was full. I knew I had...
I understand from what I read here an olive eggs are valuable in California, as a public service I will send olive eggs to anyone wanting some for 100 bucks a dozen, and being so generous as I am, I will even pick up the postage.....Dang I am a nice guy!
I prefer my blue eggs myself, they are...
