Yes they can be very orange. Yolk color changes with diet…commercial feeds add marigold for that purpose. Green leafy veggies also help with darker colors. So sorry about the mishap, those would have been very tasty.

@FL Crowing Hen I just crack those into a pyrex measure cup and microwave….they love eggs, scrambled, boiled or steamed. And eggs are great protein.

Congratulations! It may have looked lighter before refrigeration…I have noticed my brown eggs can get lighter or darker in fridge. But that is definitely a green egg.

Sounds like she will start laying soon. Since she hangs our around the nest boxes, she should know that's where to lay hers. Here's hoping she does.
