    I just tappedmy first 3 trees yesterday. Have almost 5 gallons of sap already. Has anyone tried freezing sap to concentrate it first? I have a freezer with room for a bucket, but it gets down to -20.

    I was going to tap a few trees here but will the sap even run? We've had such warm weather this winter only a few days of true cold. No solid stretches of freezing without hitting over 40+ right after.

    Does having a rotted hollow in it big enough for a toddler fit in count? Its still alive, somehow.

    Just finished a walk through of half the property with my dad, needed to get him out of the house for a bit, probably have some 6-12 maples big enough to tap. Most on the property line are 70+ yrs old. Some may be too old, too damaged to risk tapping?

    I've been told the depth of topsoil can effect the amount of sap. More soil more sap.

    Was planing on trying to tap some trees this year, an injury made that impossible. But that means I have another year to prep/find more trees. Are all maples tapable?
