I try to check the list most days and do the ones I can, rather than leaving them to make a big pile. But of course there are always plenty that I cannot answer, so they get left for other people. That's why it helps when all of us check regularly.

Click the "report" button at the bottom of a post, get a popup, type a message. The message goes to a moderator.

Reporting duplicate threads is my favorite way to make the list shorter :D

No-one knows everything, but if we each do the ones we know and leave the rest, most of them do end up with good helpful answers :) I've answered a few lately as well, but there are some where I don't know anything useful either, so I'm also leaving them for someone else.

For the rehoming threads, if they are in the right place and give the necessary information, I don't think they really need an answer (except from someone who wants the bird in question.) For the other threads, that is why it is good to have many different people look: none of us knows...

Or it might just be practical: Does this forum get me a quick answer? If not, maybe I should look somewhere else. (Same result of person not returning, but different words and different thought process.)

It's hard to give a definite rule or guideline, because the "best" choice depends on the thread, how old it is, and a variety of other factors. For a post in the wrong place, it is definitely helpful to report it so a mod can move it to the correct place. If the post is less than about a week...

So would only apply to the "raising chickens" section? Because it certainly should not happen in member introductions, or buy/sell/trade, or a few other sections. No article is going to take the place of an actual introduction or a sales post. Having to navigate a popup to post their question...

Yes, on the whole I appreciate the general culture of being polite and respectful. I think it is worth the extra effort to find a way to say things nicely, or walk away from a given thread and hope that someone else can find a helpful way to respond when I can't.

I have a tendency to read post titles, and grumble answers to myself, such as, "Just butcher that chicken and be done with the matter." (People with cockerels who can't have males, aggressive roosters, crossbeaks that require long-term special care, hens with recurrent issues such as bumblefoot...

You can click "report" on one of the threads, and that will bring it to a mod's attention sooner. When it asks for a reason, say it's a duplicate. And I usually include a link to the matching thread, to save the mod a little bit of time finding it.

Just saying diseases aren't my thing, so I'm not the person to tag in that particular forum ;)

I really don't know much about chicken diseases or injuries, other than "put them somewhere safe" and "many injuries get better on their own." :lol: (Although I know the usual list of "have you checked ___? and ___?") If you need someone to tag for a chicken medical problem, I'm usually not...

A while back, someone was talking about a list of what experts to tag for what subjects. If that happened, could someone please point me to it? There's a particular thread that needs advice about treating a wounded chicken...
