I cannot hold a piece of paper in my hand with my hand hanging down and make it across the room with the piece of paper. I will not even notice it fall out.
For me it is too much trouble taking the strap on or off so I no longer use a strap at all. I am not recommending that others do this. It is just what I do. Of course I often have the camera mounted on a monopod too which also does not need the camera strap..
I no longer use a strap on any of my cameras. I learned early on that the wind blowing the strap when the camera was on a tripod was causing camera movement when trying to take pics. Removing the strap improved my tripod mounted shots.
When available, I used deer antlers. Most of these I did with a piece of 1/2" copper tubing with the end hammered flat.
Nah, they are in a container in a cupboard and very rarely see the light of day. They are pretty poor quality when you see what the pros can create.
It's been a long time but I used to make these. The second one from the right in the top row was one that I actually found. The one on the far right in the second row was made from the bottom of a beer bottle.
I have done many crafts over the years from leather work to wood carvings and even a bronze. They have all been given away over the years without any photos having been taken.
