Mine is 6 years old now, but you take better care of yours. My chinchilla doesn't seem delicate, but I spoil him and give him all the foods and treats he loves to eat.

I have a Chinchilla it takes dust baths like chickens. :D All of his pee makes it into the litter pan and 90% of his poops.

I use this. Pine shavings get stinky fast with urine, this stuff works awesome. It doesn't have to be this brand but it's soft pelleted newspaper.

My youngest is O+ too, but my husband and other 2 boys are O-. The ones that are O- are largely ignored while we suffer... Interesting, but my cholesterol is low and great numbers but yeah I got some extra fat they can suck out if they want. :gig:lau
