:welcome !
I've been to our Eastern coast, but one of these days I'd love to go through the prairies and to the Western side of the Country. I think the furthest west I've been is Niagara Falls, On!
The sensor in my furnace is broken, but I had the brilliant idea of using my propane stovetop to heat the trailer, and it worked! It also allowed me to heat water for a hot-water-bottle and kept my week-old chicks nice and toasty warm.
Hope everyone that got hit by that massive storm last week in Ontario/Quebec and other parts East made it through okay!
I had two incubators going, one in lockdown. May have lost those, and it looks like I lost the goose eggs in the other. :( My duck eggs (two batches) seem to have mostly...
It can be daunting at first. Some can never do it. I've learned to detach myself from the task, as I'm attempting to be more self-sufficient. It's never fun but it's a necessary thing. Still, I procrastinate on it more often than not.
Don't I know it! I need to build several new enclosures this year! :lau
And dont get into hatching eggs. It's worse!!! I ended up trying to hatch more than I ate last year...
Hmmmm.... It may just be one of those variations that isn't available around here. I did a quick check with my two more 'local' hatcheries, as well as with Ideal (who supplies Peavey Mart) and couldn't find them.
You may need to extend your search and bring in hatching eggs...
I know that...
Nice area, right along the St. Lawrence! :welcome once more! This is a great community, overall. Lots of chicken and other critter chatter, and do check out all the various 'social' forums.
Can't wait to see what you get from your eggs. I love mixed breeds, they're like a box of...
Mine have also started getting frisky. Latte lost his place as top drake in my Muscovy flock. I need to cull some of the regular drakes, too. Four drakes to four females. But two of them are so bonded I don't want to separate them, and one is a purebred Magpie (and technically my daughter's).
Wish I could help. I'm also in the market for geese, but the Toulouse is not one of the breeds I'm interested in. :( That, and I'm a bit too far from you.
Seems the foxes are getting more numerous since I moved here 2 1/2 years ago. My first Autumn here, we had coyotes right in the back. Haven't seen/heard them since... 🤔
You may be able to get some from PeeveyMart. You can order them and they come from Hoovers, I believe. Also, keep your eye on Kijiji.
I'll be looking for more OEGB myself, I went and sold a bunch last fall, kept only five, and a fox took residence here and I only have one hen left. :( Lost a...
