I confess that I wouldn’t eat one, but that’s just me.
My Peruvian neighbor had one. It was young, they didn’t have it long & it suddenly “died.” I was suspicious, but figured one cavy wouldn’t be much of a meal for a family of 7.
I think it’s a normal curiosity & a good skill to know, especially if you ever found yourself in a survival situation.

I’ve had them chew cords all the way to the plug. I don’t know how they survive. It’s all fun and games until they chew the cords to your DHs work computer. (I have no idea how he explained that to his boss.)
