It tastes a lot like beef.... except much more lean. It does have the fowl taste similar to wild goose but very faint. I wouldn't turn it down if I had the chance to eat it again..... but I dont think I would raise them for a year so they are large enough to harvest.
They are magnificent birds.
I have only been told that stealing eggs (or getting near the nest for that matter) from an ostrich or emu either one is tricky.
I have eaten their meat. Its very good. I would be more prone to raising a pair and doing like you are. Big ol green eggs and ham once...

I have a few questions if you don't mind. How many emu eggs per year/month does one expect? Are they edible? Also, how long until maturity from chick to full size?
