went riding this weekend and jumped a corner-oxer thing at the end of the lesson! the horse did a nice big round jump over it and I forgot to keep my hips + weight centered over the saddle. whoops lol
we walked around the property a bit to cool down and I just let him explore! it was fun! ended...
i rode a horse that scares me! (if yall remember me talking about the morgan that made me cry, it's him)
and it went really well! I focused on giving more precise and consistent cues without additional extraneous ones, and I overall stayed much calmer and things worked out well! Also apparently...
it's finally hit below freezing here, so i'm expecting some insanity with the horses/barn from cold humans and fresh horses. i maybe sprained my ankle yesterday, but it's still ok to ride, right?
jumped a barrel (on its side) during my thursday makeup lesson! also a decently sized vertical. we also worked on both trotting and cantering, no stirrups, and i also kind of got the hang of cantering 1 stride sitting 1 stride standing! it's really hard
this week was Zuko, Breit, Ray, and Midas!
Zuko's an ottb, he's very cranky this week, and has a super comfy trot for sitting.
Breit is so sweet and so good, he kind of drags his feet about moving faster than an amble but he's still very responsive, and I don't think I needed the crop this week...
I've gotten to go riding thrice this week!!! It's been super super fun, and I've really seen how much I've grown and improved in the last month or two. I also apparently have a much stronger right leg than left, as well as long femurs proportional to my height. Funky!
i know a lot of people that smack horses for biting, but also for snapping at the air or whipping their head around in a "i might bite" way. i don't like that they do that.
i like at least 15 hands! I do love my drafts. i'm fairly short (5'3 ish) but I'm stocky and I don't want to hurt a smaller horse's back or legs, especially jumping.
got to jump MORE oxers! also finally rode a different horse than my confidence-boosting boys since august or so, and actually did quite well! he's a little bit speedier so it was a different focus, and also he's got the best trot for sitting, and his lower lip flops around and makes a silly...
