A few minutes ago the last two that needed to zip are out. I locked down 9 turkey eggs and 5 Aloha eggs and they all hatched.
On another note, since it is so humid and hot here, I had to turn off the heat lamp because the babies moved about 6 feet away. the Temperature gauge states it is 101 in...
I removed 4 turkeys and 3 aloha's from the incubator this morning and put them in the brooder. I have 2 more turkey eggs pipped and the last 2 aloha eggs have pipped. Today is hatch day.
Lock Down. I always lock down a day early, especially this time of year when we hit triple digits.
So 9 of the turkey eggs made it to lock down and 5 of the aloha eggs made it.
at the 10 day candling, out of 12 turkey eggs I pulled one for no development and 2 look iffy. out of the 27 aloha eggs I ended up pulling 22 for no development. I had hoped that the heat would not have effected the roo, but it seems it has.
The turkeys will be a mix as the lady from town that I got the eggs from runs all her breeds together. As for the Chickens, I will be setting BCM and Aloha. The Aloha to check the progeny of the new roosters I put in with the hens.
Starting the thread early as I just set a dozen turkey eggs that are due to hatch July 4th. I had to resort to hatching my own as my turkey order was cancelled and I could not order any from anywhere else in the time frame I needed. As it is, most of these once they hatch will go to freezer camp...
