So sorry about Tamar. :hugs I didn't expect to read this. :( We have had a few downpours too. As long as it keeps moving this one should not be too bad here. I always still pay attention though.

Are you sure the sitter put the correct eggs back under her?

@Wyorp Rock may say different so wait for her reply but this is my understanding. I think upside down refers to holding a chicken by it's feet with the head straight down toward the ground. This makes it harder for them to breath. I have put chickens on my lap and rolled them to their back or...

In early spring when laying gets going all my hens want to lay in the same box. Sometimes 3 hens will crowd in one nest box while another paces and complains wanting to get in too. If an egg gets broken they gobble it up shell and all. Only evidence remaining will be yolk on the remaining...

Hope you have a wonderful time! The girls will love the pool. Yes they grow so fast. It seems the older I get time passes even more quickly. Today is my grandson's HS graduation. I am so proud and happy I might cry. Seems like yesterday I was holding him in my arms.

I used to get plenty of sweet potatoes for free. I knew enough farmers who let people glean the fields after they harvested. Now they have all retired or passed on. So I decided to give growing them a try. I want to start small because SP really vine ALOT. I started a tater in potting mix...

Everything here is saturated. I wish it would let up but mets are saying more is coming over the next few days. It's raining here now. 2 tornados touched down late yesterday and another last night not far from here. A couple homes damaged and trees down. Thankfully no injuries. School here...

Pretty iris! :clap Now I have to check mine. I have them in several places. Some tend to bloom early and some later. It seems the deer don't like the iris. I saw a doe bite down on my iris foliage one time and immediately backed off. They ate all my hosta, oriental lilies and started on the...

If you are in an area that doesn't freeze castor bean is a tender perennial. I would try to remove the root. It will also reseed. It is invasive and very poisonous if ingested. I think I would wear gloves.

@fuzzi Looks good! We learn quickly how to handle that pokey hardware cloth. That stuff can hurt! @Wyorp Rock Hope it passed through the mountains without causing problems for anyone. We are starting to get some mild wind gusts this morning. Storm should be here lunch time or just...

It was really cool yesterday! I think you are doing a wonderful job especially since you are working alone. Far from professional myself, seems I always find the hard way first. 🤣

I like that gum ball wreath! Never seen one like that! We have tons of pine cones too. I've been wanting to try to give some a cinnamon scent to use in wreaths or baskets in the house. I need to prune our scuppernong vines asap. I have in the past made wreaths with those. Maybe I'll...

They are the seed pods off of sweet gum trees. They can make you turn your ankle and lawn mowers pick the up and throw them across the yard. We have them too.

Good morning from arctic eastern NC! 🥶 We ended up with 3-4 inches of nice fluffy snow Wednesday. Then came the sleet and freezing rain Wednesday night. Thursday we got more snow. Roads are icy. It was in the teens last night and same for tonight. 😩 Could hit 70f on Tuesday. :celebrate My...

I think they are calling for us to have about 2-3" accumulation of snow, sleet, freezing rain. Not a flake in sight yet, everything is already shutting down. 🤣 Added shavings to the coop floor. Cut a few collard plants and put them in the run. Took up the chicken waterers, put down the...
