Sooooooo, y'all know how I just had five silkie babies hatch last weekend, six expected in the next few days, and I have upwards of 30 more eggs in my incubators? Well, I called around to the Rural King's in my area, and they finally had some blue/green egg layers in (Prairie Bluebell Eggers - I...

Sorry, my job the last few days has me so stressed out I didn't have the brain power to check my notifications (possibly going on strike at the end of the week. Scary). I'm glad you all found it! The sourceforge link for HatchKeeper is it, and it's been infinitely useful for me - I've...

There's an app for that - its called HatchKeeper, and it was developed by a member here!

Alrighty! Originally set 10, had a few infertile and I dropped two, but five out of six that went into lockdown hatched, and the sixth I think was a late-quitter from when we lost power day 16/17. I would say I have three blue, one splash, and one I'm not sure about, which is astounding because...

This is part of why I'm glad my incubators are now at the horse farm - when I had room for them at my old house I would check obsessively. Now I can't, and my hatches are better off.

Unfortunately it looks like a quitter to me, by day 14 it should be filling much more of the egg. I'd toss it.

I use the rubber chick bands for that, and then by four or five weeks they're big enough for their permanent bands to stay on.

This is from the seller's etsy page because I don't have any that show it clearly. I also got the riser attachment so they have a lot more headroom. Seller is CourdtCreations.

I don't know what kind of incubator you are using, but I got a 3d printed divider off of etsy for my Nurture Right 360 and it has seriously cut down both my rates of splay-leg and kamikaze chicks knocking into all of the eggs.

Well, my first hatch-date if the month (of four...) has 6 eggs in lockdown, and my first blue silkie of the year hatched out while I was there (My incubators are set up in my coop, and I don't live on the farm)! I had a 24+ hour period without power, and I didn't lose a single egg! Not sure how...

I did my day 3 candle today - 9 out of 12 Splash eggs are fertile, with two definite clears, and one that I genuinely can't tell if it's fertile, or red ring. The two Cuckoo/Splash eggs are definitely infertile, which isn't too surprising. She has laid me another two eggs so far after being down...

I know, but I don't know if he had bred her prior to going up in her conditioning crate because she hadn't matured quite yet.

So I've got 12 Splash Silkie eggs and the very first two ever laid by my fabulous Cuckoo pullet in the incubator, for a Feb 3rd hatch date. Cuckoo girl had been away from a rooster for about two weeks so I doubt her eggs are fertile, but I put her back with the Splash pen for two days, so...
