I thought I was done, But From the grocery store, the nearby egg farm I hatched 34/36 EE set recently, their hens are laying again. And this was one of their hens...the family who raises them say they have many gray hens. I am hoping for more like her. ($6.99 dz.)
Below on the left is eggs...
It is hard to get every one in the picture, they move and hide. but this gives you the basic idea, these are the older ones 2 weeks old...and some younger.
Below is my frizzle getting frizzlier. She is not that fat, she is sitting on a little box.
Below are the week olds plus younger.
Most of my chicks that hatched are brown striped, or black.
I did get one NN, 2 frizzles, and 4 gray chicks. And some very small looking spitzenhauben mixes.
This is the white egg..
The gray egg hatched...Welsummer egg is still zipping, below
This is the gray egg chick in the light...
I am very excited... below is this chick's grandmother...
Below is the other grandchild and you can see frizzle feathers...
My last 3 are due to hatch tomorrow, or Sat. My chick from a frizzle mother is showing frizzle feathers, so that is exciting. One of the frizzle eggs are in with the last 3.
Looks fine.
I sold one of my incubators. It will slow me down, but not stop me from hatching. I am controling myself.
it was my incubator I use up until day 18.
Store wanted $129 for the whole set up now (turner and fan), I sold it for $60, but had not hatched in incubator. Still had the box...
I have my older chicks 1 1/2 weeks in a different brooder. I am keeping these smaller chicks in the other brooder.
I think there are 4 of the older ones i will keep.
and I want these 4 little ones they are cute.
The above pic the chick to the left is light gray with gold, but the pic shows...
I was thinking it was on day 22, but I set it on the 1st. So it was only day 21. (I had set a handful on the Jan.30th, this one I added one the 1st, but forgot it was 2 days behind, because I didn't count Jan. 31.)
a pretty dark blue.
I always encourage people to NOT help an egg. Some one new to hatching would probably listened to a "Helping thread" and try and "Help" an egg at first wiggle. All I can do is tell them to sit on their hands. Or at least ask someone before getting into the egg.
People do what they want to do...
My older (week and 1/2) ones are now in a different brooder where I don't have to smell'm. (6) I kept my younger ones (7) in and they seem livelier now the younger ones (under a week) are getting lively too.
Another reason I like older chicks in separate brooder, is they poop alot, and young...
