Ok lol so I’m not sure where I came up with an April 30th hatch day for these quail eggs. I guess setting 3 species on the same day was a strain for my mental capacity 😂 I double checked and their actual hatch date should be May 2nd so see y’all in the May thread.
The answer is: you need another incubator😀
I run hatches in my cabinet while there are still other eggs in there. I am not scientific about it. I just unplug the humidity pump for as long as I had the humidity high for hatch. This tends to even out the average on my govee so it’s still in the...
That picture of the big chick gazing in at the little one is so adorable. I think you maybe just need a few more days for the 10 day olds to feather out a bit and keep up with the bigger ones.
7 quail eggs in the Hatcher. I’ve had to pull a few stinkers & I really have no clue if these are all duds. 🤷🏻♀️ The quail had just started back laying when I gathered them & maybe they weren’t fertile? Anyway I should know on the 30th,
I feel the same. It would be so convenient if it was simple but it’s decidedly not😂 I haven’t studied it enough to really grasp much beyond that it’s always more complex than I’d expect.
That’s where chicken genetics gets tricky… you don’t need either parent to be black to get black chicks😂

Hi! You can join in on here but there’s a may thread as well and a special thread for eggs set today because they’ll have a cinco de mayo hatch😀 so you can post on those as well!
Congrats on setting your first batch of eggs!

I thought that this amorphous fluff pile would be my last April hatch ( I need a better count but I believe its 63 out of 72 hatched)… but I set a dozen quail eggs along with my duck eggs today and looks like they’ll be due on the 30th 😀 so I’m still hanging in the april thread by the skin of my...
Zipping is different to me. If a chick is zipping it means it is all absorbed and trying to get out. Since your other egg hasn’t pipped you could grab the zipping one and inspect. You can see if the membrane is too thick and giving it problems. If your lucky it will hatch in your hand 😀

They can take a long time… but personally if I’m not worried about dropping humidity on other eggs I don’t hesitate much help a chick that’s taking a long time to zip.
In all the hatching excitement this weekend I forgot to post that I put I think 72 eggs into lockdown on Friday. They’re supposed to hatch tomorrow… and then my incubators will all be empty 😳 that will be a weird feeling after all this marathon hatching but I’m collecting eggs from my flock for...
