Ended up assisting on the zip. An hour went by no progress. Membrane was definitely shrink wrapping. Probably because my humidity isn’t in lockdown stage due to the staggered hatch. Hopefully it goes well for the little one ❤️
One hatched at 1130am this morning and waiting on my second. Came home to a zip which is on pause. Now watching to see how long this pause is because I have no idea when zip started. Still chirping and moving though.
My two eggs that made it from the 12 shipped are on day 21. One external pip and one internal pip. Lots of egg cheeps and movement. I thought both were orps but the writing on one to identify was weird and I’m pretty sure it’s a lavender Cochin! Should have realized earlier but these last few...
When the hurricane hit here last fall it felt like absolute chaos! My mother had passed the week before and we were without power for a week (on a well but thankfully warm temps). Lost thousands of dollars of food in the freezer and my poor fathers house and cottage was water damaged windows...
I suppose I need to join a May hatch along as well since I just set 12 new eggs!
Who knows what I’m in for with my weird staggered hatch in my tiny incubator lol
They can stay in for quite a while until they dry off. I’d have to look it up but I think 12-24 hours they could stay in since they don’t technically need food. Someone will hopefully correct me if I’m wrong.
I’ve had some come out after 4 hours and some much later. I have the kebbonix though...
Got my bbs marans this morning and into the incubator they went with two stacked (my only two that are viable) pulled 10 today :(
Always a bright side - the girl who sold me them was really nice and we chatted for about 20 minutes about chickens. I can also get some free cow manure from her for...
Welllll since only 2 eggs look viable I went and got some last minute local bbs marans. Which means I will have 2 (if they even make it) on day 9 I think and the rest just starting lol. Sounds like a mess but if either of those two even make it I’ll be surprised.
Only one of my Isabel orps hatched out of two last time and I think she is a pullet!
Now breeder has Isabel Ameraucana and I only have one chick (wheaten) and three in the incubator look to be duds so…..I need them lol
Awh saddled doesn’t mean all is lost though! I had a good hatch for shipped eggs in February and all mine were really saddled. 9 out of 14 hatched.
@junior67 has has good success with saddled eggs too.
