I had chicks from April, and I moved them to a different pen. I had sold all my chicks from one group, but one and put her in with those babies. (she is a few weeks older.) She has taken a shine to the younger April chicks, and they also like her.
If you do stagger, try and have a couple incubators, to trade them out, and hatching juices don't get on eggs. It is also easier to stager where you have eggs that are 4-5 days apart, then you can tell who needs to stay in longer, and who is closer to hatch.
Also if you stagger never put cold...
Someone came for a rooster today!

The little blue chick has a wonky foot. I am not going to hobble it, She can stand on it, and it seems not as bad.

One of the reasons I was going to quit hatching was I was afraid it might get in the way of travel, but we are not going to travel for a while, so I have eggs in again...

2 last blue eggs hatched black chicks, the last egg a dark brown egg has pipped. I am sure it will hatch, but it was a wrong end pip, I help a little, but I am keeping him in the egg until he comes out on his own, I don't want to have a chick with curled toes and weird bellybutton.

My girlfriend came and got 3 chicks, yeah!, She also bought some from a feed store, one was already "gasping" it would open it's mouth and make a gasping motion, but not a peep. It's eyes were still open. I told her give it egg yolk, and it could have been the result of shipping. I also think...

Today is the last day of hatch, one yellow out of a blue egg, 3 pips. and a few more eggs not doing anything. I have a friend coming today for 2-3 of the day old chicks, (she is getting some from a feed store, plus these.)
One was droopy last night, but I gave it yolk water. I didn't expect it...
I have more eggs due on the 22nd.
Below, are my current chicks, I still have one more hiding behind the black one, and it is also black.

Below is blow ups of the pic above.
My eggs are due the 20th or so. I do have some others due on the 22nd. I put the ones due at a later date in hatching cups. Plastic ones, and also cardboard egg ones, I took a hole puncher to the cardboard egg cartons, and put a hole in the bottom. Just so they don't get rolled around.
