I put a rubber drawer liner in the bottom of mine for each hatch. If you take the turner out, you can trace it to fit!

I did a hatch of quail last year, started with just about 2 per space (20 eggs to start I believe…), and ended up with 17 quail in the Kebonnix! One thing I saw afterwards online was that the person brought a box to put the kebonnix in once most had hatched, then opened the lid so all the quail...

So now I’ve done a few hatches in the Kebonnix! Lots of success, even did a staggered group and had to manually turn eggs that were not in lockdown. Everything went super smoothly! Question for you all…has anyone done quail eggs? I have 22 eggs coming next week, and I’m hoping to fit 2 quail...

It’s all luck of the draw! What time of year was it? I have heard there are more pullets born in the spring and cockerels in the summer heat. But nothing you specifically did would cause only males to hatch!

It doesn’t lock. If you turn the lid a little it might click into place better, but it won’t ever lock completely. I’ve used 4 different brands of incubators, and never had a locking one.

I keep humidity around 50% for first 18 days. If I fill slowly to keep water at the midline in the trough, I usually can go a couple days without adding it. Vent knob is at halfway point. At day 17, I remove turner (I like to let them get in position a day early since mine usually start pips on...

There was plenty of room at hatch with 11 chicks inside. When they got fluffed out, I removed them quickly and the humidity was not affected at all. Just remember to put the water cover in the middle back on when you remove the turner!

In lockdown, waiting to see if I’ll have any day 20 pips tonight!

The Kebonnix is still going great! I had to remove 2 quitters (they were both the same color, shape, size & weight, so I’ll not set them next time, assuming it’s the hen). Other eggs look great. I moved two eggs I was hand turning into their spaces a few days ago, and they look great as well...

I turned all eggs 3 times a day just in case they got stuck when they were double stacked. Annoying but not the worst thing in the world for extra eggs!

I am planning another hatch with my students, and I think I can leave this over the weekend without water dropping to zero humidity. Last year I had to rig a shoelace wick to keep the humidity manageable when I wasn’t there on the weekend (the building is locked Fri night to Mon morning).

This incubator is FANTASTIC. If you don’t need to set a large amount of eggs, it is awesome. I love my 360, because I can squeeze upwards to 30 eggs in it, but the Kebonnix is so user friendly.

Day 5 candle, and all 12 eggs are developing! Humidity & temp remain stable. Added water for just the second time yesterday.

I must say, after 2 days of incubation I am very impressed so far. I have only had to add water once, and it was barely 39% when I did. This is a very set & forget incubator. My NR360 needs water added a bit more frequently.

I tried a meat thermometer sticking it in boiling water, and it showed WAAAAAY over 100 degrees. That’s why I’ve only tested at freezing point.

I tried to order a mercury thermometer as I have a bunch of non-mercury liquid ones at school and none were even close to accurate. If anyone finds a link to a mercury thermometer, please let me know!

Keep it in a bit longer…if it just came out of the incubator it might take awhile to hit the stabilized temp. If it keeps going lower .1 every few minutes or so, it isn’t done lowering yet! 😊

You can put it in a waterproof ziploc baggie (not generic, you don’t want any leaks). Flatten so no air is in it. Fill a cup w ice and add water. Wait about 15 minutes. Add the baggie w the thermometer, & barely submerge. After about 10 minutes, check how close it is to 32. Sometimes in the...

Did you calibrate the one inside? I set my kebonnix at 100 since it seemed just a half degree below the electronic one when I tested it, since then my calibrated thermometer on the inside has shown between 98 & 99.5. The lower it is in the incubator, the lower the temp shows in my experience in...
