Sorry guys, it’s been a busy few weeks! I’ve been taking the photos but not uploading them; this one will be a long one! 🐔🙃 I’m happy to report that we are now SWIMMING in pullet eggs! 🥰 But more on that below. As of now (19W/20W), I’d say 9/10 gals are laying judging from the egg songs...

And BAM! We have 1st egg yesterday! 98% sure it was from BCM 1 (18W). It's not as brown as I thought it would be but maybe things will change (I thought the deeper colors are when they start laying then they progressively get lighter?)? . She laid it from the top roosting bar onto the droppings...

Here we go! All but the wyandottes are squatting for me…. So were close and I’m so excited to see these rainbow eggs!! - OE2 (18W) Still my #1 gal. It’s be curious to see if she is indeed an olive egger or a black ameraucana. I had ordered both initially but had a chick DOE that I had assumed...

@heidibee's wyandotte started laying at about 22/23 weeks and her comb and waddles looked like this so I think I'm further out than I thought on the wyandottes 😕...

Watch out - I'm on time this week with the update! The girls are still holding their eggs out on me. Maybe next week 🤞 - OE2 (17W) - OE3 (17W) - BCM1 (17W) just a bit of copper under the chin/ears and on the back at the base of the neck. - BCM2 (17W) --> Caught her mid adjustment and...

IDK. It seemed to me that cuckoo marans followed the barred rocks in coloring (the double barring make them appear whiter than the bird I had?). OE1's coloring was always on the darker-barred side. I think that's why I held out hope for so long. He didn't look like any cuckoo marans roosters I...

Time is flying and I am having fun! Here are the photos from weeks 14 & 15, AND as an added bonus there’s a progression photo for each hen to just see how far they’ve all come along (through weeks 15-16)! Hope this helps you guys figure out what chicks you got and what they can become. This...

Carrot would have been a good one! The SLRWs were such round golf balls as chicks that one is named after a golf brand, thanks to DH, and the other was named by one of my kiddos, "Popcorn". They are such sweet gals - would recommend!

Weeks 13 & 14 in one post! Things are chugging along at the ‘ol farmstead and the girls are doing well J Had to modify the interior fencing to make it taller and AROUND the planter because they were hoping onto the planter lip to get inside the fencing. Next up is making some PVC feeders (still...

Aaand we’re back with week 12! We have the garden sectioned off to prevent them from getting into the seedlings in the raised planters when they have their daily free range time (and keeping the poo off the patio) --> chickens for scale. I’d say the fencing is 90% effective (will usually find 1...

We’re currently brainstorming aerial protection to give the gals some protected free range space in the garden – that’ll be a separate thread coming soon. Overall, I have noticed that all the girls are starting to pinken/redden in the faces. Maybe that's a sign that they'll be early layers? or...

Update time - here we go! After 2 weeks of transitioning to the outdoor coop/run, they are finally roosting on the bars every night without me moving them from the huddle on the droppings board – win! - OE1 (9W) still looking for a home for this gentleman. His tail feathers have started to show...

And the 7 weekers! All the PBEs are flighty IMO. I have loose plans to keep two (PBE2 & PBE4) and trade the others for similar aged birds of a differnt breed. We'll see how that goes Summary: - PBE1: kinda the runt of the pack. Has the "squat" look of illness but eats, drinks, and runs with the...

I've always admired @heidibee's growth threads. I wish I knew the outcome of her secondary one with the olive eggers in 2020 because I feel like mine looks so similar (and I ordered mine from Mypetchicken as well!); but her first thread with the splash laced wyandotte coloration gives me hope...
