It's official, all my hens are laying!!!:wee:yesss:
Sesame^, the last/smallest of our pellets, is now laying little green eggs!
I've got 11 hens & 3 roos, everyone gets along, except for the expected pecking, and they all seem fat & happy which is all I ever want. The roos have a very defined...
It's crazy NOT to say thank you! :bow
Yea, it's lucky mine also lay fairly different egg shapes/colors/sizes from one another, and I also thank them individually.
Teriyaki started laying 2 days ago, a light green one, so now I've got one left before they are all "laying rent." 10 down, 1 to...
:celebrateWoot Woot!
Two more ladies paying rent!
^Fajita (Black Astralorp) is laying light brown eggs
AND
^Ginger (EE? or I guess OE?) *all I know is she likes the punk rock look* is laying a darker, olive toned, green egg
My egg containers are looking good! 8 down, 3 EE's left!
Ah ok, but a previously laying hen wouldn't just suddenly change her egg/bloom color right? So another of my babies is laying or could be an existing layer? Caught me by surprise cuz its so different lol
Yay! Parmesan^ is a lady today!!
Kinda hard to tell in the picture but they all have different egg colors, shapes, and sizes. BBQ still gives us tiny little eggies :love
6 down, 5 to go!!
HA! YES! Since it's just two of us here, we can't keep up with the amount of eggs. Luckily, our neighbors and family are gracious enough to assist :bow otherwise, we'd have no room for anything other than eggs in the fridge!! I'm going to have to find some egg-loving friends by the time my...
5 DOWN, 6 TO GO!!
All my teeny-boppers are laying now! BBQ (SGE) lays small brown eggs, Nachos (Golden Sexlink) lays medium dark brown eggs with freckles, and Spicy (RIR) lays medium brown eggs, same color as BB, just bigger. So proud of them :love So I have 5 laying hens now, and averaging 2-3...
Nachos is now a young lady. She laid a darker brown, with dark brown spots, medium-sized egg yesterday afternoon.
^ Bottom two belong to BBQ for comparison ^
4 DOWN, 7 TO GO!!:celebrate
I'm just happy they're healthy. The shell was nice and firm, they eat well & roam around like they own the joint; they can lay whatever color eggs they want!!
Ah ok, I thought it was either cream/white or green with the two breed possibilities; then definitely it was probably BBQ:love it's funny how much faster she grew since all three are the same age, gotta be a breed thing🐔💗
I agree! I always make a big deal and thank them, with my own little...
Thank you! 🥰
I'm still confused as to who it might be. I feel like it's BBQ, mostly because she's the most developed of the three and has been spotted in the nesting boxes multiple times BUT, in a different thread (https://www.backyardchickens.com/threads/bbqs-breed.1587735/) I asked for help...
One of my teeny-boppers laid her first egg today, but not quite sure who. Look how tiny compared to her sisters🤗!!
Green one is Nugget's, white one is Biscuit's, and the tiny little brown one is either Nachos', Spicy's, or BBQ's first little eggy:love
We lost one of our hens today :hitWe aren't sure exactly what happened, we just found her on the floor of the run, no visible wounds, but she hadn't laid an egg in almost a week so I'm thinking something went wrong that I didn't catch in time.
Rest in peace Dumplin 😢
She is now in our home pet...
So my hens are stressed:
• they are transitioning feeds
• we are introducing new flock members/chicks into their run
• it's starting to get hot
• we are rebuilding their coop/run area, I'm sure they also feel overcrowded while we finish
• I think one may be starting to molt
For reference, I...
6-7 weeks now:
Parmesan^
Honey^
Teriyaki^
Sesame^
Ginger^
Fajita^
Going to be posting on the 'Breed & Gender Forum' cuz some of the feathering looks weird, and what's with Ginger & Sesame's hairdo!?
I agree, I feel like I finally got all pullets!
Thank you. Yea, I figured it would take a while, the teens have had their own area, their own food (still on the starter/grower), and their own water. They can see each other but not interact physically unless I'm in there letting them roam. It'll be fun stuff once I put the babies in to!
So Popcorn got beat up this morning, stepping up to Nugget for some worms.... they both fluffed up, Nugget said 'I don't think so' and charged at him, ripping out all kinds of feathers that she carried around in her mouth for a bit 'til I got them out.
So every morning I bring the teens outside...
