And here are the babies!
14 hatched, one died in nest :(
11 eggs were left, with one external pip and a couple of internals, so those went to my broody Buff duck. The rest are in the incubator...
Just got the three chicks out of all the eggs I set at the end of May. I need a better incubator >.< Was going to leave them a bit longer, but my power went out yesterday (my connection between the house and the trailer fried) so until I can get that fixed I can't run the incubator.
Welcome, and congratulations!
My own last (?) batch of incubator eggs started hatching yesterday. Due today although I think I snuck in a few eggs earlier so that would make sense. So far, two babies have hatched (chicks this time).
I still have my broody Muscovy and ducks out on their...
Need to hatch some!
Then keep them a couple of weeks before they go into their 'ugly duckling' phase, lol!
Oh, who am I kidding, there's no such thing!
No, they get up but as the time approaches they do so less and less.
It's one of the reasons I'm not so gung-ho on keeping completely away and not even daring to breathe in the room the incubator is in. I open it all the time and check the eggs, lol.
Put the incubator into lockdown. These are the last. Probably get more ducklings from the broodies but I have no certain dates because I didn't mark them down!
You may join up tp June 30th at 11:59, lol! Doesn't give the babies much time to hatch though.
I'll just warn you, hatching is *very* addictive!
I actually don't add water anymore during the actual incubation, only at the end. It's humid enough here that it keeps it at the right level...
My first attempt at hatching turned into a total disaster. I still have issues with my incubator but can't afford another one at this time.
Hopefully the two make it! And don't give up, maybe try a few more next time?
