Sorry everyone! Been drowning at work the last couple weeks! Ash is an Orpington, and Chive got it with Red over Lavender.

Okay I have something similar. Want to try to guess Ash? She’s also a mix of 2 of the same breed, but different color variations.

Is one parent light Brahma?

Is the mom the Blue Plymouth Rock? I’m curious, at what age did her comb go from black to red?

I could see that. Killian is only the 3rd RIR I’ve ever owned, and they’ve all come from TSC, so I don’t know about quality. But they’ve all been very different!

I want to guess, but I know next to nothing about these types of breeds!

@MysteryChicken This is Brandy and her RIR flock mate. They are the same age. When you see them side by side, you can see that Brandy is more orange or gold. Killian, the RIR, is more red and has bright yellow legs. Brandy is also much floofier. 😂

Orpington is correct! Papa was a red Orp. She (Brandy) is my profile pic bird.

She is not redcap. I didn’t realize about the speckled gene not coming through. I hatched a bunch of eggs from this SS hen and they all came out basically reddish. A couple of the cockerels had some speckling on their chests, but nothing impressive.

So @Chive got one of the breeds-Sussex. A hint for the other breed is that it is another an English breed.

I’m not familiar with a red Sussex, but her mom is speckled sussex! I think her red color comes more from her dads side, though…

She is not Marans or Wyandotte. She is not part sex-link, but I don’t entirely know what breeds make up a sex-link.

She is not RIR or New Hampshire. Her color is somewhat confusing, because it comes from the parent who is a less common color of a common breed.

I didn’t realize this these was still going on. I may need to update my notification settings. Anyone want to guess this pullet? She’s 50/50 common heritage breeds. One breed is very common, but the particular color is not so much.

I had a feeling because this is my mixed pullet out of my SLW hen. No silver at all even though her dad has silver, too.
