Thanks! Her looking solid black for the first few months before lightening up really had me confused, but I prefer blue over black so her being a dark blue works for me!
She’s beautiful! I always have loved blues. This is the other blue pullet that came in the box. I guess I am just used to my blue Marans that seem to be so much lighter compared to the blue orpingtons.
Since you are here and much more knowledgeable on Orpingtons can I ask what you would consider this pullet? I thought black because she was black as a chick and stayed that way up until about a month ago when she started to lighten up. She is lighter than any black chickens that I have seen, but...
I decided to keep him for now and see how he turns out. I will add updated pictures once he finishes filling out. Every week he seems to get more lacing in. Only a month ago his head had the yellow and his body was completely black so I guess we will see if he changes anymore.
I think the biggest difference for English is that they are I guess I would describe it as more pudgy/round/bowling ball body shaped compared to the American. The English are broader across the shoulders, shorter legs, shorter back length and looser fluffyfeathering.

I paid anywhere from $14.50-$16.50 per chick for the variety boxes since I ordered both box types for the orpingtons. He had one box option that was non-project English lines only and then the other box option could have both English and project orpingtons. You can definitely see the difference...
Yep! I ordered I believe it was 27 total from Jeff this spring. Here is my Isabel Cockerel I got from the first Papa’s Poultry batch that arrived in April. I have yet to come up with a name for this guy that suits him🤔
I originally wasn’t sure if I was going to keep him, but I might have to. I ended up with 12 cockerels out of this batch and several unique colors which is making it hard to choose😅 I have Isabel, Isabel Laced Lavender, Blue Partridge along with the usual splash, black, lavender and blue...
That would make sense especially since he is oddly colored/patterned. I wasn’t sure if his lacing would fill in and become more defined as he got older like my Wyandottes did or stay patchy.
This is Ronan. He is right around 5 months and came from one of Papa’s Poultry surprise Orpington boxes so he wasn’t exactly labeled. I thought he was a golden laced because he looked pretty close to a golden laced as a chick, but not exactly. I know Jeff has a lot of projects colors going on...
