Todays dose of happiness, I caught fluffers and Kiko doing a little sister bonding, though there is also some sister fighting with fluffers biting at Kiko’s poor feet or tripping her when she’s eating. I did put mom (squeakers) back out in the coop so I can get ready to bring in little and her...
Thanks, been ultra busy with work today. I had to bribe my old dog with love n treats to get her to help me. I’ve learned the new little one is a girl and I’ve named her Kiko, she’s highly demanding of attention and love and doesn’t like it when I turn my attention away from her to tend to...
Thank you, I’m a first time duck grandma lol. Out of the 9 eggs she currently only has 2 living babies, I’m wondering if some of the issues the babies who died was caused by when mom got separated from the clutch and they got cold. I had been so worried because they were still developing and I...
Little one is doing well this morning, it’s accepted water. Hasn’t eaten yet other then some sugar water, it’s still a little uneasy on it’s feet but its eyes seem to stick. I haven’t even seen it attempt to blink, I try to make sure they are clean and wash it’s face
Evening everyone, well we lost two more babies, one before hatching I opened the egg to see what the cause was it seems to have been an abnormality. The other baby died shortly after hatching no clear signs to why, the last egg also hatched but mom bite it and tossed it. So I’m now doing what I...
Thank you, not the first time I’ve had this happen last time it did it was a puppy and I was a kid. Both time I tried cpr in hopes to bring them back, but sadly it wasn’t effective. Animals has always been one of my loves, I wanted to be a vet when I got older, however that hasn’t happened.
I am sad to report that Kibo passed away a few minutes ago, he was doing so well and improving. I was holding him when he took his final breath, it is always sad to lose little ones.
Kibō is still with us, yolk sac is almost gone. I will say his favorite place is in my bra, I tried to put him with mom again and yet again she picked him up by the foot and dropped him. So I don’t think mom wants to raise this little guy at all
The yolk is almost fully absorbed, I’ve named it Kibō which is Japanese for Hope. The lil one doesn’t like to leave my bra either when I do check time. Also yes it does move his head around, but prefers to sleep curled up. Fluffers the older duckling does to from time to time and she’s 5 days old
Yeah we weren’t expecting babies till spring both mama duck and one of my chickens desperately wanted to be moms.
I’m happy that she’s doing such a good job tho.
Hello, my female khaki decided to have babies in the middle of winter. She barely became an adult in Sep. she had 9 eggs 2 hatched on the 6th sadly between the cold and their father they died, a third egg hatched later that day and that baby is fine and thriving at 5 days old now. She had 2 eggs...
