I’m not sure how you would breed forward for feather sexing once the 2 lines have been combined. My chicks are several generations removed from whiting. All of my cockerels seem to be barred and none of my pullets are barred.

That’s too bad you couldn’t add more. They seem to be a hot item. They’re fun to watch, they have explosive little personalities and seem to be good at flying around. 3 of them follow me around so much that I have to be careful of my steps.

I don’t really know much about color and pattern inheritance yet, but maybe the white of the leghorn is covering up other color/patterns. And when bred to the ameracauna it opened up those colors/patterns?

You might be right. I would think that the genetic hackle lines are an industry secret. I vaguely remember watching on of the videos of YouTube with dr whiting and he said something like we found that some of our chickens were producing blue eggs.

I sent an email to the hatchery to see if I could interview dr whiting on the development of the true blue. I’ve read conflicting accounts of how they were made and would like to clear up the confusion.

Here’s the current list of some of the birds available from whiting hatchery. They are available in the western Colorado region and also by transport. But they won’t ship directly.

I think they’re fairly sleek looking in general. Here’s some examples from dragonfly farms. The same place I got my eggs from. https://www.dragonflyfarmnc.com/whiting-true-blue And here’s some photo galleries from other farms https://silverhomestead.com/whiting/...
