I don't worry as much about greens (ie. weeds, sprouts, fresh herbs) as much as other things. But yes, anything outside their commercial feed dilutes nutrition and should be considered a "treat". Others will disagree. The fun of chicken keeping is there's no right answer to anything! 😂

I'd personally keep them on it with the oyster shell on the side. Chickens can get really stressed out by food changes, so if you do decide to switch to something else, do it gradually. As for "extras", I like to treat in the afternoon. This gives them all day to eat their food before gorging...
