He is so beautiful and that is great he gets his own pad and harem! ❤️
We'll have to talk about this line of silkies as right now, hmm, where would I put them all lol.
Famous last words...I'll lay money you don't make it to January. :lau But, but, but, I'm dang near the same way!
Pinky swear again, this is it! I just got my rescued one out of the incubator into the brooder so that is IT!
Well, chickens aren't like horses in that we can't check their teeth and hooves. I think it is just in their overall looking healthy over time. Like not fair to judge if they're molting for example.
I think it would be harder to discern most of the time which ones are more robust but...
As long as he stays to that, you'll always know what to expect and not get blind-sighted. ❤️ Maybe it's a love bite.
I wear a Kevlar glove that goes all the way to my elbow when hauling my parrots back and forth to the aviary in the summer. Their claws can't get through it, but not sure...
I had one batch last summer with pasty butt issues so gave them Hydro-Hen (probiotics/electrolytes) and that cleared it up or coincidence did. Since then, I've always gave that in their water on Day 2 and again on Day 4 or 5. I'll get one pasty butt once in a while but it's rather rare.
I just saw @TwoCrows popped up when I left my reply and OMG they were almost identical so I quick changed mine. The one you quoted was after I changed it. Before, it was dang near identical lol. Great minds think alike I guess! Both of us, well, we all are, excited to see those grow up!
Tink, that first one I think had a "P" on the egg if you happened to notice? I had sent one egg I knew my one partridge silkie laid. I don't believe chicks from these ones in the pen would pop out a striped chick, but I could be wrong.
They're all so darned adorable though!
It's great when...
I do believe that is a mauve splash pullet, but could be a chocolate splash pullet. The only other option for a chick that light-colored coming from these is if it was a blue splash cockerel but that sure doesn't look blue to me.
It's probably too late now, but I took a thick cotton wash rag, rolled it up, shoved it in one of the reservoirs, and poured distilled water on it to soak it good.
