Definitely going! Is it basically chickens only or will there also be ducks, geese pigeons etc.?

Heading to Waverly tomorrow! I'm taking an empty pet carrier with me despite my wife's threats. It's a good thing she loves me.

We went to our county fair last weekend. It's so small. Four exhibition sheds/buildings, one food stand, six riding lawn mowers and a tractor. Literally. But we had fun! It's great to see friends and neighbors and their animals and 4-H projects. We're new to rural small-town and love it. The...

We haven't gotten into showing... Yet! But we're faithful fair-goers. We didn't make it to the state fair last year and the kids have held it over my head like an axe ever since! Not sure which day we'll be attending. Year before last most of the poultry and small animals were gone when we got...

Welcome, Kinderchicks! My wife, four kids and I are foaming at the mouth for the state fair, corn dogs, smoked pork chops, nitro ice cream, funnel cakes etc. Oh, and the poultry barn, of course!

I'm looking for roller pigeons in eastern Iowa. I don't need anything fancy. Just some young birds the kids and I could settle and enjoy in the back yard. Anybody know of any leads?

Finally some rain! I've been giving my oversized garden city water (getting expensive) and the lawn was turning brown.

We didn't make it to Maquoketa either. A couple of our kids had things going on. Our oldest girl wants 4H project rabbits, so we'll be on the hunt soon. Any suggestions on freeze-proof waterers for rabbits? As transplants from coastal California we've never had to think about such things lol!

Went to the flea market in What Cheer today. I bought a "three holer" for $20! It's the flat board from an old outhouse with three side-by-side holes cut in it. Going to use it for seating at the basement bar!!

@ mrandmrs- We had nice (but windy) weather all the way back down to North English. We may have passed you on the sidewalk! We arrived 10-10:30-ish. Passed some folks on their way out trying to coax a shy puppy into walking on a leash but the pup was having none of it! May have been you? We were...

My wife kept going back to look at a mini Rex. I thought it was coming home with us but to my surprise she never did "pull the trigger"!

The weather held out for us in Waverly. And somehow we've managed not to buy anything!

Let me know what you decide! If the weather holds out and we make it up there, it would be cool to meet and say hi at the least. We're new to Iowa and always ready to meet new people! My kids will think I'm crazy and remind me we aren't supposed to meet people from the Internet lol. I just won't...
