Once a year I unscrew all the panels, creosote every surface then the next day, when they are dry I use fence paint on them. At the same time I bath the chickens using tea tree shampoo with about a 1/4of a bottle of pure tea tree oil from the herbal shop (added to the shampoo bottle and shake up...

    anyone in England ?

I have Bedwell Equinola. It is rape straw impregnated with lemon oil to deter flies and red mites. It should be £7.50 for a waist high bale but cos some corners are a bit wet (most of it is usable and none is mouldy. I use it in all my coops) I am selling it for £5 per bale. I have layers...

There is nothing better than sitting in the garden in summer with a cup of tea, stroking a chicken on your knee. You look like a Bond villain but it is so relaxing!

    anyone in England ?

I don't know if you know but, if you get eggs off ebay or through the post, pay the extra and get them sent guaranteed next day delivery. The parcel bypasses the tumbler machine at the sorting office so they have a higher hatch rate

    anyone in England ?

There is a whole thread on this issue and loads of arguments as to what is best. From what I can tell, it doesn't hurt or bother them unless it gets infected. To possibly stop it happening use vaseline or bag balm, something used on cows udders. The bag balm seems to be working for most on the...

    anyone in England ?

I think because the eggs are in a queue, if something interrupts her laying (fireworks, p.o.l.) they squash up a bit and sometimes one is squashed into another (double yolker or super large egg). They don't get the hard shell until further down the tube. That is only what I have read on here...

I have a choc cockerel and a choc hen from cheshire poultry, so good lineage. There is a gold laced in with them. I think they are sex linked but I haven't worked out which is which. Their eggs went so fast on ebay I didn't get to hatch many. Maybe someone on here can help? My ebay name is...
