If you want to break the broodiness, my fail safe method is to stick them in an upside down hamster cage (essentially any cage that has a wire bottom) with food and water on a brick in each corner (so it's off the ground) in the run - this ensures she can't brood and when she sits down her tummy...
its pretty much as english as it gets.. yeah my bantam roos were hiding inside all day, the hens came out a bit but only when i was out and about - basically them all today:
